Flights: start with the airport
The airport's flight board at sunairport.com lists arrivals and departures and is the neutral place to see who actually flies in. In an article dated 7 October 2026 the airport said about 20 airlines operate routes to the island and named direct domestic flights from Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Buon Ma Thuot, Vinh, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Passengers from other cities connect through Tan Son Nhat or Noi Bai.
The same article describes three Vietnamese carriers: Vietnam Airlines, with direct flights from Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City; Vietjet Air, with domestic and international routes; and Sun PhuQuoc Airways, a newer airline based on the island. Among foreign airlines it names Korean Air, Jeju Air and AirAsia as operating or planning direct flights. Routes and seasons change; the airline's own booking page is the place to confirm a flight exists on your date.

Korean Air's site refused our checking tool on 12 October 2026, so it is not in the table although the airport names it. Bamboo Airways is not named in the airport's October 2026 article and we could not confirm a current Phu Quoc route on its site, so it is not listed either.

Fast boats and the car ferry from the mainland
Boats leave from two mainland towns of An Giang province: Rach Gia, about 120 km away, and Ha Tien, closer to the island. Both routes arrive at Bai Vong port on Phu Quoc's east coast, not in Duong Dong, so allow for a road transfer from there. Three operators run websites we could open on 12 October 2026.
Superdong
Superdong – Kien Giang runs fast boats on the Rach Gia – Phu Quoc and Ha Tien – Phu Quoc routes; Báo Pháp luật put its fleet at 16 fast boats and 2 ferries in March 2025. Its main site, superdong.com.vn, and its booking site, online.superdong.com.vn, both loaded, but the route pages build their timetables with scripts our tool could not read, so we quote no times for Superdong.
Phu Quoc Express
Phuquocexpress.com, which presents itself as the official website of the Phu Quoc Express fast-boat brand, showed three daily departures each way between Rach Gia and Phu Quoc on 12 October 2026: 7:00, 10:20 and 13:00 from Rach Gia; 7:10, 10:00 and 13:20 from Phu Quoc; about 2 hours 30 minutes to Bai Vong. The listed one-way ECO adult fare was VND 315,000 — a reference figure from that day's page. The site asks passengers to be at the pier 45 minutes before departure, and it also has a Ha Tien route page.
Thanh Thoi car ferry
Thanh Thoi carries passengers, motorbikes, cars and trucks, and its home page shows a dated timetable. On 12 October 2026 it listed ten departures from Ha Tien between 03:45 and 18:00, with crossings of roughly 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours, and three from Rach Gia at 06:45, 10:45 and 14:45, taking about 3 hours to 3 hours 15 minutes. Listed adult fares that day were VND 205,000 from Ha Tien and VND 315,000 from Rach Gia; a 4–5 seat car was VND 1,000,000 and VND 1,500,000. These are reference figures, not quotes.

Other boat names you may see
Older articles also name Hoa Binh and Ngoc Thanh fast boats on these routes. We found no working website for either on 12 October 2026, so they are not listed; ask at the pier or through a ticket office if you see them advertised.
Boats from An Thoi port to the southern islands are a different service run by tour companies and boat owners, not by the ferry lines. The An Thoi page covers the port and the safety rules for those boats, and the company directory lists island-hopping trips.
When the sea route is a bad idea
Fast boats stop when the wind is strong. On 20 November 2025, Tuổi Trẻ reported, north-east gusts of force 7–8 and waves of 1.5–2.5 m halted the crossings from both Rach Gia and Ha Tien. A cancelled crossing has no alternative until the next departure the operator runs.
- You have a flight to catch on the same day: leave a full day's margin, or fly in and out.
- You are prone to seasickness: the Rach Gia crossing is the longer of the two by fast boat.
- The marine forecast warns of strong wind or high waves for the Gulf of Thailand — check the national weather centre listed on the apps and maps page the day before.
- You need to reach your hotel late at night: the last departures listed on 12 October 2026 left Ha Tien at 18:00 by car ferry, and Bai Vong is a drive from the west-coast hotels.
Flying is the simpler choice for most visitors arriving from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. The boat makes sense if you are already in the Mekong Delta, travelling with a car or motorbike, or combining Phu Quoc with Ha Tien.

Common questions
Questions readers send
Which port do boats from the mainland arrive at?
Bai Vong, on the east coast of Phu Quoc. Both the Rach Gia and Ha Tien routes use it, according to the operators' sites.
Can I take a car to Phu Quoc?
Yes, on the Thanh Thoi car ferry from Ha Tien or Rach Gia. Its site lists vehicle fares by size; on 12 October 2026 a 4–5 seat car was VND 1,000,000 from Ha Tien.
Why is there no Superdong timetable here?
Superdong's route pages load their timetables with scripts our checking tool could not read on 12 October 2026. Rather than copy times from older articles, we link to the operator's own site.
Which airlines fly to Phu Quoc?
The airport's article of 7 October 2026 names Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Sun PhuQuoc Airways among Vietnamese carriers, and Korean Air, Jeju Air and AirAsia among foreign ones, out of about 20 airlines. The airport flight board shows who is flying on a given day.
