Phu Quoc Special Zone portal

The People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone publishes its news, notices and hotline information at phuquoc.angiang.gov.vn. The site is in Vietnamese. For travellers, the useful parts are the hotline section, the tourism section and the notices on strong wind and high seas posted before bad weather. Several notices are images, which a browser translation tool cannot read; the visitor feedback poster is printed in Vietnamese and English.

The portal's footer gives the People's Committee address as No. 4, 30/4 Street, quarter 2, Phu Quoc Special Zone. It is an administrative office, not a visitor centre, and it does not handle bookings or tour complaints in person; use the feedback lines on the health and emergencies page for those.

An Giang province

Since the 2025 merger the provincial government sits above the special zone. Its portal is angiang.gov.vn, with an English section. On 12 October 2026 the portal refused our checking tool, so we cannot describe what its pages show today; we keep the address because it is the province's own, and you may have better luck in an ordinary browser.

The province's tourism portal, Du Lịch An Giang, did load. It has a destination page for most Phu Quoc sights — Dinh Cau, Bai Truong, Bai Sao, Bai Dai, the national park and Phu Quoc Prison — though many still give pre-2025 addresses such as "Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang". Some features ask you to sign in; the destination pages open without an account.

Phu Quoc National Park and the biosphere reserve

Phu Quoc National Park runs its own site at vqgpq.angiang.gov.vn. Its overview page says the park was set up by Prime Minister's Decision 91/2001/QĐ-TTg of 8 June 2001, covers 36,262 hectares (29,596 ha of special-use forest and 6,666 ha of protection forest) and records 1,397 plant species and 480 animal species. The same page still places the park in "Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province". Sources differ on the area: the provincial tourism portal gives 31,422 ha, about 70% of the island. We quote the park's own figure and note the other.

The park lies inside the Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve. UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere page lists the reserve with a nomination year of 2006 and a total area of 1,188,106 ha; it is in English and is the place to check the reserve's zones.

The airport

Phu Quoc International Airport (code PQC) is the island's only airport. Since 00:00 on 1 January 2026 it has been run by the Phu Quoc branch of Mặt Trời Airport JSC, under an airport business licence from the Ministry of Construction and an operating certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, both dated 25 December 2025, according to Đại biểu Nhân dân. The operator's site has an English version with a flight board, a visa page and a transport page — the most useful official pages for arriving passengers.

Work on a second runway and a new terminal is under way ahead of APEC 2027. VietnamPlus reported on 8 August 2026 a target of April 2027 for operation; a draft resolution reported by Đại biểu Nhân dân listed March 2027 for the airport. Sources differ, and neither date changes how you arrive today.

Ports and the maritime authority

Three ports matter to visitors. Fast boats and car ferries from Rach Gia and Ha Tien arrive at Bai Vong on the east coast. In the south, An Thoi port changed hands on 7 August 2026, when the right to operate it passed to Mặt Trời Hạ Long Co., Ltd. for two years after an auction, Tuổi Trẻ reported, with a berth for ships up to 3,000 DWT and a three-storey passenger terminal. Also in An Thoi is the international passenger port, which entered service in February 2024, according to Việt Nam News. Boats to the An Thoi islands leave from the An Thoi port area; in July 2026 VnEconomy found island canoes moored at the international port.

Sea traffic is supervised by the maritime port authority, whose site still carries the name Kien Giang Maritime Port Authority. Its pages are technical — port notices, tide tables, pilotage fees — but it is the body that announces when fast boats stop for bad weather, as on 20 November 2025, when north-east gusts of force 7–8 and waves of 1.5–2.5 m halted the crossings, Tuổi Trẻ reported.

When an official page is not the answer

Official portals are slow to update and mostly in Vietnamese. Use them for rules, notices and complaint routes, not for timetables, prices or availability: for a ferry departure the operator's own site is more current — see ferries and airlines. If a government page contradicts a newer notice from the same body, the newer notice wins.

Common questions

Questions readers send

Is there an English version of the Phu Quoc Special Zone portal?

Not on the day we checked. The portal is in Vietnamese. A browser translation tool works on its text pages, but notices posted as images need to be read from the image; the visitor feedback poster of 3 January 2026 is printed in both Vietnamese and English.

Who runs Phu Quoc airport?

Since 1 January 2026 the airport has been run by the Phu Quoc branch of Mặt Trời Airport JSC under licences dated 25 December 2025. Its official site is sunairport.com.

Why does the national park's own page still say Kien Giang?

The overview page was written before the July 2025 merger and has not been updated. The park is now in Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province.

How can I check that a travel company is licensed?

Search its name or licence number on quanlyluhanh.vn, the national database of licensed travel businesses. The database also lists revoked licences.
